How to Use mederu GACHA
A complete guide to minting, collecting, and creating gacha-style NFTs on Tezos.
π°
What is mederu GACHA?
mederu GACHA is a gacha-style NFT minting platform built on the Tezos blockchain.
Artists upload a collection of artworks, and collectors mint a random piece β just like a gacha machine.
Each NFT is unique, securely shuffled on the server, and minted on-chain via your Tezos wallet.
π
Step 1 β Connect Your Wallet
Click "Connect Wallet" in the top-right corner.
mederu GACHA supports Beacon-compatible wallets such as Temple, Kukai, and others.
Make sure you have enough XTZ to cover the mint price + network fees (~0.01β0.05 XTZ gas).
- βTemple Wallet is recommended for beginners.
- βYou can use Kukai mobile for a smooth experience.
π²
Step 2 β Find a Gacha Drop
Browse the homepage to find active gacha drops (marked with π’ LIVE).
Each card shows the collection name, creator, mint price, and how many tokens remain.
Click a card to visit the mint page.
πͺ
Step 3 β Mint Your NFT
On the mint page, choose how many tokens to mint (1β5 per transaction).
Click "MINT" and approve the transaction in your wallet.
After confirmation, your new NFT will be revealed with a flip animation!
The token is randomly assigned from the shuffle β you never know what you'll get.
- βHigher supply drops have more variety.
- βSome drops feature limited rare traits β check the collection description.
- βEach mint is on-chain and permanent on Tezos.
π
Step 4 β View Your Collection
Visit your Profile page to see all your minted NFTs.
Click any thumbnail to open a full-screen lightbox with metadata:
token name, collection, creator, description, and traits.
Your NFTs are also visible on mederu, objkt.com and other Tezos marketplaces.
βοΈ
Step 5 β Customize Your Profile
In your Profile page, click the [ EDIT ] tab to open the Profile Settings drawer.
You can set a custom background by pasting any image URL.
You can also adjust your main text color and add your X (Twitter) and Website links as clickable badges.
Customizations are saved locally via your connected wallet address.
- βDark backgrounds usually pair well with white text.
- βYour X handle will display as a neat badge under your username.

For Artists β Create a Gacha Drop
Artists with a mederu Pass can create their own gacha drops.
Navigate to the Create page, fill in your collection details, and upload your artworks.
Optionally, upload a CSV file to set custom names, descriptions, and traits per token.
Without a CSV, traits are automatically generated from layer names and file names.
You can also use the Layer Composer (mederu Pass required) to generate generative art NFTs from layered images.
- βSupported formats: PNG, JPEG, GIF, WebP, AVIF (max 10 MB per image).
- βUp to 500 images per drop.
- βArtworks are shuffled server-side β order is kept secret until mint.
- βSet royalties (default 10%) to earn from secondary sales.
- βCollaboration with other artists is also possible β revenues are automatically split between collaborators.
πΌοΈ
Layer Composer β Background & Images
The BACKGROUND panel at the bottom of Layer Composer supports three modes:
β Solid β flat color fill
β¨ Gradient β linear or radial gradient with 10 direction options (ββββββββ + βOUT βIN)
πΌ Images β upload multiple images as weighted background variants
When using πΌ Images mode, each uploaded image gets a weight slider (1β100) that controls how often it appears during generation β exactly like regular layer traits.
The π² Random button instantly picks new random colors AND a random direction (including radial types).
The π² Random ON/OFF toggle in the header enables per-artwork random background generation β every generated token gets a different random gradient color automatically, while the direction you set is preserved.
- βUpload multiple BG images to randomly vary backgrounds across your whole collection.
- βWeight sliders let you make certain backgrounds rarer or more common.
- βRandom switch + gradient mode = every artwork gets a unique background color.
- βAdd layers ABOVE the background panel β the latest added layer is always on top.
βοΈ
Layer Composer β Trait Image Controls
Each trait image in a layer has three action buttons on the right:
π Rotate β rotates the image 90Β° clockwise each press (0Β°β90Β°β180Β°β270Β°β0Β°). Useful for assets captured in the wrong orientation.
βοΈ BG Remove β automatically removes the background of the image using flood-fill detection from image corners. Best for flat or solid-color backgrounds (e.g. pixel art, scanned illustrations).
β Remove β deletes the trait from the layer.
The weight slider below each image controls its rarity: lower weight = rarer, higher weight = more common.
- βBG Remove works best on images with a solid, uniform background color.
- βRotate applies visually in the preview and is encoded into the final generated artwork.
- βUse weight = 1β3 for rare traits, 70+ for common traits.
ποΈ
Studio β Advanced Options Tabs
The lower section of the Create page has four advanced option tabs:
π₯ Collaborators β add wallet addresses to split primary sale revenue equally. Each collaborator can have an individual royalty percentage.
π¦ Pack Pricing β set discounted total prices for multi-mint packs (Γ3, Γ5, Γ10). Leave blank to use unit price Γ quantity.
π² Rarity Tiers β enable weighted rarity: set % for Legendary and Rare tiers. Images are assigned by upload order (first uploaded = rarest).
β¨ Custom Page β enable a fully branded gacha page at /g/your-slug. Requires a mederu Pass. Customize background, accent color, font, and banner image.
- βClick any tab to switch between panels β your settings are preserved when switching.
- βThe Custom Page tab shows a 'Get Pass β' link if you don't have a mederu Pass yet.
π
Direct Metadata Input
Above the CSV upload area, you can directly input default metadata that applies to all tokens:
β’ Token Name β e.g. "Night Mushroom #"
β’ Description β shown in NFT marketplaces
β’ Tags β comma-separated trait tags (e.g. "collection:mushroom, style:pixel")
If you also upload a CSV, the CSV entries override these defaults on a per-token basis.
If no CSV is uploaded, the direct metadata is used for all tokens.
π
Metadata Editor β Visual Editing
The Metadata Editor lets you visually edit NFT metadata for each artwork directly in the browser β no external CSV tools needed.
How to access:
β’ Upload Artwork mode: Click βοΈ Edit Metadata next to the CSV upload area.
β’ Layer Composer mode: Click βοΈ Edit Metadata next to the π¦ Download ZIP button.
Key features:
β’ Auto-fill: Your Collection Name, Description, and Tags from Collection Info are pre-filled into each row.
β’ Smart Naming: Numeric filenames (1.png, 02.jpg) are automatically renamed to "CollectionName #1", "CollectionName #2", etc.
β’ Row Editor: Click βοΈ on any row to edit name, description, tags, and trait attributes.
β’ Keyboard Navigation: Press β / β to jump between artworks (auto-saves on navigation).
β’ Search & Filter: Filter rows by ID, name, or trait values.
β’ Apply: Click β
Apply to Collection to sync edits β names and traits update live in the preview grid.
β’ CSV Export: After applying, click β¬οΈ Download CSV to back up your metadata.
Data flow: Collection Info β Metadata Editor β Apply β Preview Grid β Publish
- βOpen the editor after setting your Collection Info β defaults are auto-filled.
- βUse keyboard arrows to quickly review all artworks without going back to the table.
- βDownload CSV as a backup before publishing.
β¨
For Artists β Custom Branded Page
After creating a drop, you can enable a fully custom branded page at /g/your-slug.
Choose your background, accent color, font, banner image, and layout.
Share this link with your community β it's your own gacha experience!
π
CSV Metadata Format & Native Traits
To set custom metadata, upload a CSV file with the standard columns:
id, name, description, tags
Plus, you can add any number of Custom Trait columns (e.g., Background, Head, Weapon). mederu GACHA now features Native Trait Support: any extra columns you add to the CSV will be automatically parsed as official NFT Attributes (Traits)!
If no CSV is provided and you use the Layer Composer, traits are seamlessly auto-generated using the layer folders and file names you uploaded.
ποΈ
Image Compression β Faster IPFS, Lighter Collection
When you upload artwork images on the Create page, mederu automatically compresses them in your browser before uploading to IPFS.
You can choose from three compression modes using the toggle buttons above the artwork upload area:
π¨ Original β No compression. Best for pixel art PNGs and artworks where every pixel matters. Files are uploaded as-is.
βοΈ Balanced (default) β 2048 px max, quality 0.85. Virtually indistinguishable from the original, but typically 50β70% smaller. Recommended for most collections.
ποΈ Max Compress β 1024 px max, quality 0.72. Minimizes file size for large batches. Great for drafts, previews, or when IPFS pinning speed matters.
A green β
badge appears after upload showing how many MB were saved across your entire batch.
Smaller files = faster IPFS upload = faster mint confirmation for collectors.
- βBalanced mode is the default and works great for photography and illustration.
- βPixel art and transparent PNGs: use π¨ Original to avoid JPEG artifacts and transparency loss.
- βLarge 500-image collections benefit most from Max Compress β can save hundreds of MB.
- βCompression happens locally in your browser β your originals are never modified.
- βCover image is always compressed to max 1200 px / 0.85 quality automatically.
- βGIF files are never compressed β they are uploaded as-is to preserve animation frames.
π
Security & Transparency
All minting happens on-chain via the Tezos FA2 standard.
The shuffle is pre-computed server-side before the drop goes live, ensuring fairness.
NFT metadata is uploaded to IPFS before minting β permanent and decentralized.
Royalties are enforced by the smart contract, so artists always earn from resales.
π²
Rarity Tiers β Make Certain Pulls Special
When creating a drop, you can enable Rarity Tiers to add a cosmetic rarity label to each minted token.
There are three tiers:
β
β
β
Legendary β The rarest and most coveted. Shown with a gold glow effect.
β
β
Rare β Uncommon finds. Shown with a purple glow.
β
Common β The standard tier for most tokens.
How it works:
1. Enable Rarity Tiers in the π² Rarity Tiers tab under Advanced Options.
2. Set the percentage for each tier using the sliders (e.g. 5% Legendary, 25% Rare, 70% Common).
3. Images are assigned tiers by upload order β the first images you upload become Legendary, the next batch Rare, and the rest Common.
4. When a collector mints, the token's rarity badge is revealed alongside the artwork.
Rarity is purely cosmetic β it does NOT affect the token's on-chain value or functionality. It adds visual flair (β
badges, glow effects, colored borders) to make certain pulls feel more exciting!
- βUse low Legendary % (3β8%) to make top-tier pulls genuinely exciting.
- βUpload your best artworks first β they become the rarest.
- βRarity badges are visible on the mint page, profile, and lightbox.
- βCollectors see the rarity tier in the reveal animation after minting.
π
Open Edition (OE) Mode
Open Edition mode lets you create unlimited-mint drops from a single image β similar to platforms like objkt.com's open editions, but with a custom gacha-branded page.
How it works:
1. On the Create page, click the "π OE MODE OFF" button to toggle it ON.
2. Upload just 1 image (your artwork for this edition).
3. Set a Close Date β the date and time when minting ends.
4. Publish your drop as usual.
When collectors mint:
β’ Each mint creates a new edition with auto-numbering: "Your Title #1", "Your Title #2", etc.
β’ Metadata (including the edition number) is generated on-the-fly and uploaded to IPFS automatically by the server.
β’ The description includes a direct link to your gacha page: "π° Mint yours β gacha.mederu.art/g/your-slug"
β’ Supply is unlimited (β) β anyone can mint until the Close Date.
On the mint page, OE drops display:
β’ β OPEN supply instead of a fixed number
β’ Edition count (total minted so far)
β’ Close date countdown
After the Close Date, minting is automatically disabled and the drop status changes to "ended".
- βOE is perfect for community editions, event drops, or charity mints.
- βEach minted NFT gets a unique edition number (#1, #2, #3...).
- βCombine with Custom Page for a fully branded OE experience.
- βThe gacha page link is embedded in each NFT's description for organic discovery.
- βYou can set a Close Date far in the future for long-running editions.
